Character
Name: Beatrice Ushiromiya/ Beatrice the second.
Series: Umineko no naku koro ni
Timeline: Episode 3, Banquet of the Golden Witch.
Canon Resource Links: Tiny wikipedia link and uhm, the manga chapter on her works?
Personality: Beatrice is rather innocent and naive. Having lived in a mansion deep withing the forest in Rokkenjima, with no more company than two servants and an obsessed Kinzo, she has no real knowledge of how the world works. Names of flowers, trees, places like amusement parks, zoos, or even cities are something she just simply doesn't know about. All her world is inside the fence around her mansion, having tea by the garden and talking to Kinzo who visits her from time to time.
If any of them told her the sky would turn green, she would probably look at it all day waiting for it.
She has been told the soul of the witch Beatrice is inside her body, which she believes to be true. Still, she's not comfortable with the idea of being someone she's not, or even being named the same as the witch. She's terribly lonely and in desperate need of an identity of her own. She wants to be free from Kinzo's expectations of her, from the witch's soul and to finally leave the mansion in the forest and become a new being. Because of her isolated life, she sees the world through the eyes of a newborn. Beatrice is terribly curious of the simplest things, and her resolution of finally seeing the world outside of the mansion only makes this worse.

First Person Sample:
[There are some sounds... the video screen is pitch black. After a moment, a satisfied "Aha!" can be heard. A blue eye can be seen in the screen.]
I think I understand now... when it turns red, it means it's recording, am I wrong? It said so in the manual. This is so interesting! Just one button and it does an entirely new thing!
[The screen now shows a young woman sitting on a rock, dressed in a heavy black dress. She is smiling brightly as she studies the pokegear.]
It's incredible... like magic. Ah! Perhaps this is some kind of new magic? The incantation must be in the buttons! See, a button for the screen, a button for voice messages, and all the alphabet for text. It must be strong magic... I'm sure Kinzo would've told me about it. Darjeeling, come see! Isn't it--
[A rather confused Houndour appears on the screen before the feed cuts off.]
Third Person Sample:
The wind barely moved her dress as she stood outside the nice woman's house (Mother? Really? She was very kind anyway). It had all happened so fast, but now that she had a little moment to think it through... there was no other thing in her mind but the fact that this must have been magic. Real magic, like real witches can do.
She did remember falling, and she remembered thinking Is this what it feels to fly? at some point. Then... well, it was weird... Then she woke up in this house. Where was Rosa? Ah, she must be worried! Beatrice took her bag and walked around town, searching for Kinzo's daughter, her friend. The people in the small village were odd... repeating the same thing again and again adn again. Maybe this was normal? She wouldn't know, it's the first time she's been in a town after all, let alone talk to so many different people.
After a while she finally convinced herself that Rosa wasn't there. Perhaps she crossed safely the forest and went back to her home? Beatrice hoped she didn't encounter any wolves, and if she had, then she prayed she used that biscuit she gave her. It should be enough to distract them while she ran away...
Her thoughts were soon lost to the sight of the sky above her. It was the same blue sky she looked at from the mansion, but right now something seemed different. The wind, perhaps? Was the grass shorter? Were the flowers more colorful?
No, that wasn't it. She was outside. She was free. Beatrice couldn't hide how excited she was, as silent tears ran down her cheeks. The fence, the forest, the vast sea... and that child who made it possible, who broke her cage.
"Thank you, Rosa..."
